Summer Boot Camp: Real-Life Implementation Science 2021

MIST OPENS THE DOOR TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF IMPLEMENTATION SCIENTISTS

CERiA, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, and Yale University School of Medicine and School of Public Health Commit to Create and Sustain Yearly Bootcamp on HIV Implementation Science.

Building on over 15 years of successful collaborations and partnerships in medical and public health research, CERiA, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, and Yale School of Medicine and Yale School of Public Health organized a virtual summer ‘boot camp’ on HIV implementation science for real-world practitioners throughout Malaysia and the region. The 3-day virtual workshop, from August 3 to August 5, 2021, brought together 188 HIV professionals, including clinicians, HIV service providers, researchers, policymakers, advocates, people living with HIV, key and vulnerable populations representatives at the same platform. The boot camp featured key lectures to reinforce elements of basic and advanced implementation science by Yale faculty, used real-world examples of HIV implementation science, methods for implementation science, and interactive sessions where the emerging implementation scientists of UM and Yale presented case examples, specifically from the Malaysian context and experts discussed and helped trainees solve problems. An additional session on the Human Rights Approach to HIV Implementation Science hosted by United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) was included. This summer training program is fully aligned with UM’s new mandate to build and strengthen research training in implementation science and research.

The Malaysian Implementation Science Training (MIST) Program team is committed to bring-in the leading Implementation scientists of Yale University in person for the next boot camp to be held in June 2022. Join us again for the next summer boot camp.
